I started a girl & her home as a way to document the things I love: food, photography and travel. While my career is in finance my passion definitely lies in food. I love cooking, baking, talking about food, writing about food and taking pictures of food. I live in Scotland and can definitely say it’s fuelled my love for food and travel. Living in Scotland I am so fortunate to have an incredible larder right on my doorstep as well as some of the most beautiful scenery in the world.

My dream is to spend my life travelling the world and spend my free time researching our next holiday destination. A girl & her home is where I share the places we have been and where we want to go.

A 27 year old currently working as a trainee actuarial consultant (i.e. I work in pensions). Through school I had a really big passion for art and was very gifted at maths. I left school and went to pursue a career in achitecture but after two years, I realised it wasn’t for me and switched to maths. I realised at this stage that a 9-5 job suited me best, and meant I could use my passion as a means to switch off and relax, rather than my passion being my job. Part of qualifying as an actuary means completing exams (of which I still have a few to go) and so it can be very demanding while working and studying at the same time.

I live with my husband CB in Glasgow, Scotland. CB and I were married in April 2014 after 6 years together. We currently live in little one bedroom, rented flat and so we (or should I say I) have become experts at de-cluttering and living in small spaces. CB’s job is a little different to mine – he works as a racing driving instructor and runs a club race team with his family. Opposites attract they say!

I just discovered your blog and your photography is absolutely stunning. And I’m so jealous that you live in Scotland – one of my favorite places!

Aww thank you! It is such a great place to live, the weather often gets to me but then I just remember how beautiful a place it is!
